Brazilian cell phone numbers have 11 digits in the format (DD) 9XXXX-XXXX: the first 2 are the area code (DDD), the digit '9' is the mandatory mobile prefix, and the remaining 8 are the line number. The DDD identifies the geographic region: São Paulo is 11, Rio de Janeiro is 21, Brasília is 61, Manaus is 92, among others.
